Free PSP Game Downloads Sites - Do They Exist?

Simply, the answer is 'yes', but like most things in life, things are not always so 'simple'.

The PSP (PlayStation Portable) has been out since March 25 2005, and has since then been the best handheld gaming and multimedia device the world has seen. One of the greatest features about the PSP is the ability to download games, movies, music, and other multimedia directly to the PSP.

When it comes to downloading games and movies, there are some choices available to the user. First and foremost, everyone will naturally seek the 'free' option. I do not recommend this option, and I will not be listing any 'recommended' sites for free PSP game downloads. The biggest problem with downloading from these types of sites is that each download is accompanied with bundles of spyware and adware, filling your computer jam packed full of 'em. The second problem is the tremendously slow download speeds, as it can take you anywhere between 3 days to 3 weeks to download a single game. The slow download speeds might not be so bad for those who can't afford the pay sites, but it's definitely not worth sacrificing the functionality and privacy of your computer. Just remember, nothing in life is ever 'free', and, you always get what you pay for (in this case, you pay nothing, and you get a whole heap of stuff you don't want!)

Don't fret just yet! All hope is not lost.

Many safe and reliable sites are now appearing on the net offering fast and friendly downloads of the latest PSP games, movies, music, and more! There are many of these sites, so how do you know which one to choose? Some sites require monthly membership fees while others may charge per download.

Your best bet is to go with a site which offers lifetime access with unlimited downloads for a onetime, non-recurring fee (usually around $35 - $45). This is by far the best option. You do have to pay a little bit, but you get tremendously fast download speeds, new titles as they are released, and secure downloads.

UPMS V4

Before using UPMSInstallerV4 Sapphire, you must remove any custom themes or custom prx files that are flashed to flash0 & flash1, this includes any PTF themes you have installed, failing to do this can have very unwanted side effects when upgrading to 3.90 via Pandora.

Items Required
An original Pro Duo Memory Stick that is at least 512mb of free space for Nand Backup.
A psp running custom firmware (it is best for the psp to be running a minimum of 3.52m33 or 3.71m33-2) with a battery at least 75% full (ideally 100% full).

File you will need.

1.50Eboot renamed to 150.PBP
3.71Eboot renamed to 371.PBP
3.80Eboot renamed to 380.PBP
3.90Eboot renamed to 390.PBP

Additionally if you also want to install Dark AleX's Time Machine, you may be required to have 1 or more of the following PBP Eboots on your memory stick.
3.40Eboot renamed to 340.PBP
3.60PSAR renamed to 360.PSAR
U.P.M.S cso application.

Steps
1. Switch on your psp.

2. Make sure your psp is set to run the Sony NP9660 umd iso driver if you are running 3.52cfw or above.

3. Scroll to the USB icon and connect to the computer.

4. Back up the entire contents of your memory stick to a safe folder on your computer (just to keep anything you may require later e.g. music etc).

5. Disable the psp from the computer.

6. Scroll to System Settings and press X, then scroll to Format Memory Stick and press X to format the stick.

7. After the memory stick has been formatted scroll back to the USB icon and connect to the computer.7.1 If you are using a fake memory stick copy in to the ISO folder the U.P.M.S cso file (this is just drag and drop).

7.2 Disconnect from the computer.

7.3 Scroll to the Game icon in the XMB and then scroll to the Memory Stick icon press X and then press X again to run the installer.

7.4 Scroll to the option that says format & repartition memory stick and format your stick. This will also create all the folders needed.

7.5 Scroll to the USB icon and connect to the computer.

8. Copy all the downloaded and renamed eboots on to the root of your memory stick (this is just drag and drop). The root of the memory stick is the very first level that you see when connected to the computer.

9. Open up the ISO folder and copy in to it the U.P.M.S cso file (this is just drag and drop).

10. Disconnect from the computer.

11. Scroll to the Game icon in the XMB and then scroll to the Memory Stick icon press X and then press X again to run the installer.

12. If you are running firmware 3.80M33+ follow the steps below if not just press X again. If running 3.80M33+ the software will detect this and a different screen will appear (this will enable you to run the IPL) it will flash a file to Flash1.Press [] (square button) and the installer will backup some files to Flash1 and then flash some files to your memory stick, if not done you will not be able to write the IPL.Press X and then X again.Press X again to start the installer. The screen should tell you that the fatms371.prx is installed so press X.

13. Run step 1 choosing to load the desired IPL (the multi IPL is advised as this will allow the battery to be used as a normal one, for a slim you need to be running 3.90M33-2), when done go to the next step.If you already own a Pandora battery you can miss step2, if not run step2.

14. Run step 2 and your battery EEPROM will automatically be backed up to the memory stick if it is not already there (this will be needed to convert your battery back if needed), and then convert your battery to a Pandora and go back to main menu.

15. After making the Pandora battery plug in the AC cable and remove your battery.

16. Run step 3 to install the firmware that is required to make your U.P.M.S or if you wish you can run the full installer and miss step 4 (this may take awhile but be patient as long as the memory stick light is flashing it is still working). If you already own a Pandora/U.P.M.S memory stick and only wish to upgrade select the option Clean MS for fresh install by pressing XRun step 3 to install the firmware that you will require.

17. Run step 4 to install all of the application that you might require if in the previous step you choose to only load the U.P.M.S with out utilities.

18. Exit installer.

You should now have the ultimate unbricker/downgrader.

The battery and stick combination is now capable of doing all the following

1. Upgrade a slim to 3.71-2 M33.

7. Downgrade a phat to 1.50.

8. Upgrade a phat straight to 3.52 M33 from Extended Boot Menu then install update 4 via XMB
with no need to downgrade to 1.50.

9. Start up a psp with Ultimate Loader with support for choosing which Pandora you require V1, V3, V4 or V5 (by holding down the L trigger).

10. Boot to the XMB with the Pandora battery inserted.

11. Use PSPFiler and other tools (if it requires 1.50 slims can't as there is no 1.5 kernel).

12. Upgraded a phat or slim to 3.71-4 M33 from the XMB with the update.

Hacking the PSP

The Only way to hack/modify your Fat/Slim PSP is PANDORA....only PANDORA.

What is Pandora?

It Can be used to downgrade/upgrade/unbrick/modify ANY PSP, slim or fat, regardless of firmware version. It is a combination of a PSP battery and a memory stick.

The PSP battery is converted into "service" mode, what this means is that when battery is inserted into PSP, it makes the PSP read/load/boot from memory stick instead of internal flash.

There are soft modded PSP PANDORA batteries that are converted using homebrew(software) by another CF PSP or hard modded batteries where u open up the battery itself and lift a pin on the circuit board. Both of which do the same thing....

PSP Batteries can be soft and hard modded and then converted back to normal if done correctly.

A list of confirmed working PSP batteries for Pandora
- Sony "standard" Li-ion 1800 mAh PSP Batteries
- Sony PSP-280 2200mAh PSP Batteries
- Datel, PSP Battery 3600 mAh (X2)PSP Batteries
- Datel, PSP Battery 1800 Max Power PSP Batteries
- Datel, PSP Battery GO MAX (Model # GM1000, uses AAA batteries)
Slim batteries:

-Sony PSP-280 2200 mAh Battery (this is the battery that comes in the Slim expanded battery pack)

-Sony PSP-S110 1200 mAh Battery

The memory stick contains the new firmware/software, DC = Despertar del Cementerio, which is loaded with "service/pandora" PSP battery.

Currently there are three main version of DC
-DCv3=flashes 3.71-2M33 to ANY PSP regardless of firmware
-DCv4=flashes 3.80-5M33 to ANY PSP regardless of firmware
-DCv5=flashes 3.90-3M33 to ANY PSP regardless of firmware
