According to the fine folks over at pspgen, Sony has issued firmware version 5.0 beta to legitimate PSP developers. This will of course allow commercial developers to adapt and ready their games for the next major firmware revision. Per the moment, the details are somewhat scarce…
For starters, pspgen reports firmware 5.0 will include these three updates:
1. Direct access to the PlayStation Store
2. A new RSS reader
3. An integrated “snapshot” tool; similar to FuSa screenShoot (?)
And that’s all we know for now… With respect to a release date, that also remains unknown. It’s speculated to hit around October with the release of the PSP-3000. Whatever the case, I certainly hope 5.0 sports a little more bang than those 3 specifics.

RemoteJoyLite v0.16 Released
Japanese coder, who seemingly goes by the name Akind, has released an update to RemoteJoyLite.
Newcomers — connect your PSP via USB and copy this to your memory stick, enable under the recovery console, then kick back and enjoy “TV out”-like functionality on your PC monitor. You may require the ‘”PSP” Type B’ USB driver for Windows. Download that with Custom Firmware Extender.
Old-timers — you know what to do… Exit the RemoteJoyLite window, keep your USB connected, update, and re-enjoy it all over again.
RemoteJoyLite v0.16 [translated] change log:
“the active suppression when the PC’s screen saver. PSP screen is OFF. USB connection is back ON PSP screen. Input pad was delayed 1 frame has been fixed. Some games on display did not have been fixed. Full-time position and screen size can be specified. POV,AXIS,ROT POV, AXIS, ROT be assigned to the button. Some PSP only able to transfer region. Some PC diagonally dot slippage occurred had been fixed.”
…whatever the case, it’s no doubt improved.

Hold+ v2.71 — Battery Power Saver Plug-in *Updated*
Hold+ v2.71 Update:
* Fixed a bug where after the first time you resume from suspend the Analog Up + Hold Switch Off would not work.
Torch has a real simple PRX plug-in to squeeze some extra minutes, perhaps even hours, of game play from your PSP. If it’s already hacked — you may as well download, install, and enable Hold+. There’s no harm in that. And if your PSP isn’t hacked — what’s the hold up?
Hold+ v2.64 to v2.7 changes:
* PSP LEDs are turned off when in Hold mode or Display Off mode, but they are flashed every 30 seconds so that the PSP is not mistaken to be powered off.
* Fixed a bug introduced in v2.64 where the PSP wouldn’t automatically suspend after being idle while in Hold mode or Display Off mode.
* While in Display Off mode, you can now also turn on the display by pushing the power switch to the suspend position.
* Pressing the PSP Screen button also works but I recommend using the power switch instead, because when you press the Screen button, the firmware sets its internal brightness variable to the next level, even though the screen is functioning at the original brightness. Thus if you leave it idle after turning on the display using the PSP Screen button, and the PSP screen dims due to the PSP being idle, when you press a button it will jump to the next brightness level.

New PSP TA-090 Motherboard Discovered
Here’s some fresh news in the world of PSP. Someone has discovered a new motherboard in the PSP-2000, the TA-090. There are noticeable differences, as well as the pictures to prove. Oh yea, the most important note: It is pandora compatible. Skyknow (discoverer) says:
“I found a new motherboard, the version is TA-090.
We all know TA-088 v3 can’t use PANDORA’S BATTERY, but the TA-090 can use it, and the motherboard has changed a little. The changes I have marked in the following pictures. I can’t understand why SONY upgrade the motherboard. - Skyknow on Maxconsole.net”
